Ever throught your map was good, but still a little plain? You know what's missing? SOME LIGHTING EFFECTS ^^
Well I FINALLY figured out how to properly lightmap without it turning all dark when you actually play the map : ) so i wanted to share this with the other mappers of EG : D
1) Get FSRad,
Download:
--
http://www.megaupload.com/se/?d=SK01EZZQ 2) Extract this to your GTKRadiant folder
-- C:\Program Files\GtkRadiant 1.5.0
3) Adjust your settings:
-- Open FSRad
-- Click on the Database tab
-- Click the box that says Write BMP files of all lightmaps
(The box should now be checked, and don't worry FSRad won't toss random bmp's on your desktop)
-- Click the Lightmaps tab
-- Set the Width and Height both to 128
-- Press Apply & Ok
4) Add light to your map
-- Open GTKRadiant and load your map
(Map making tutorial along with GTKRadiant download here: PLEASE DON'T LINK TO OTHER GUNZs)
-- Right click anywhere on the grid & select light
(A box should pop up asking about intensity)
-- Choose your intensity
(Higher intensity = brighter lights)
5) Compile your map : D
-- Build > GzMAP: light
- or Build > GzMAP: -fastlight
6) Wtf? Enjoi your even awesomer, now lightmapped, map ^^
Here's a before and after:
No LightMap D:
LightMap : D
Compiled using GzMAP: -fastlight
